Notes from the Grizzly Den

Arrival window 7:35am-7:45am:  Just a reminder, the two outside entrances that students use for arrival are open from 7:35am-7:45am.  There are staff at each entrance door greeting students, staff in each hallway to ensure students can find their classrooms, and staff on the blacktop directing students for this entire window.  We strongly encourage arriving to school between 7:35am-7:45am.  We have some bike riders arriving much earlier, and there is not staff supervision on the blacktop until 7:30am, so please plan accordingly.  Students are not required to be in their class line to enter the building, that is a simply a system that helps our students to enter the building in a calm and orderly fashion.

Reporting an Absence:  When you are calling the attendance line, 303-982-5810, to report an absence, please make sure to leave the reason for the absence when you are calling.  We use Jeffco’s attendance policy for excused and unexcused absences.

Volunteer Background Check Information and Forms: Safety for our students is of primary importance and in order to align ourselves with Jeffco standards for safety, please note that some volunteer positions will require a “Volunteer Disclosure and POI form” to be submitted before volunteering. 

Background check forms are now available in the office and on our website.  Look under the tab “Connect”.  If you have any questions, please contact our Financial Secretary, Krista Corthell: krista.corthell@jeffcoschools.k12.co.us 

The “Volunteer Disclosure and POI form” (for the background check) are required for:

• Anyone regularly working with small groups of students in the classroom

• Field trip Chaperones

• Watch D.O.G. volunteers

Forms are processed through Jeffco Human Resources and take about 5 days to process.  You will receive notification from Krista Corthell when you are able to begin volunteering.
