The Grizzly Gazette

September 8, 2025

Registration for the 6th Annual Grizzly Fun Run is officially open! Last year we raised over $45k, with all money going directly towards supporting our incredible kids, teachers and school - let's aim to match that amount this year! We'd love to see EVERY child register for this FUN, FREE event! Every child who registers will receive a Grizzly Fun Run t-shirt and $5 in Fall Fest tickets!

After you sign up, send your child's personal Fun Run link to family and friends to start collecting donations on a one-time or per-lap basis.

For more info about the event, including what time your child will be running on Sept 26th, why we fundraise, the fun prizes students can win and more, check out the FUN RUN WEBSITE.

FUN RUN LOGO WINNER!

Congrats to this year's Fun Run logo contest winner, LANE TREXLER! Lane's groovy Maple Grove Grizzly design will be featured on the front of this year's Fun Run t-shirts to be worn by all students on September 26th and will be featured on our Fun Run WEBSITE. Thank you to all of the incredible student artists who submitted entries - we'll feature the additional entries in the Family Directory!

JOIN US

Join us this Thursday, September 11th from 4:30 - 6pm in the Maple Grove library for the first SAC meeting of the year. Thursday's meeting will include an overview of SAC and a "State of the Union" address by Mrs. Nason - touching on School Performance Framework (SPF) and Spring Data Updates, Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), School Budget and Staffing, and School Safety updates.

WHAT IS SAC?

In Colorado, each school has an Accountability Committee (SAC) to advise school staff on budget, school improvement/performance plans, and other workings on the local school level. SAC committees consist of the school Principal, teachers, parents, PTA members and community members.

The mission of the Maple Grove SAC is to engage parents, teachers, and community members in key decisions at the local school level. We aim to cultivate a sense of community ownership in the future of Maple Grove by providing recommendations to Maple Grove leadership to support Maple Grove’s continued excellence in education and student support. We offer feedback and recommendations with a focus on ALL students.

GRIZZLY Q&A: GRIZZLY GATHERINGS + EXPERIENCE PARTIES

Q: What are Grizzly Gatherings and Experience Parties and why do they exist?

A: Grizzly Gatherings and Experience Parties are both community-building events and fundraisers for the PTA!

Experience Parties:

What better way to get to know your neighbors and meet other Maple Grove families than one of our Maple Grove Experience Parties! Throughout the year, Maple Grove families host (plan and pay for) a variety of fun get-togethers with 100% of ticket sales for these events going to the PTA to support our amazing school and community. Anyone can donate/host an Experience Party (or team up with other families to co-host a party) geared towards families, adults only, moms only, dads only, etc. Mark your calendar for two of our favorite Experience Parties coming up this fall: Moms & Margs (Saturday, Nov 1) and the Dads BBQ (Friday, Oct 3 at Tanglewood Park). Interested in hosting an Experience Party? Reach out to Heather Williams at mgpta2020fundraising@gmail.com.

Grizzly Gatherings:

Grizzly Gatherings are smaller monthly fundraisers hosted by local businesses (most often restaurants), with a portion of event-night proceeds going back to the PTA. Last month's Grizzly Gathering was hosted by Tellers, with over $700 coming back to Maple Grove! Next up is Savvy Kid Sunday on September 14 from 10am - 3pm. See below for details - we hope to see you there!

Don't miss our first fundraiser of the year - the SAVVY KID SUNDAY Haircut + Photo Session Event presented by Elle.b Savvy Hair Salon and Shea in the Wild Photography. Snag a spot on Sunday, September 14 from 10am - 3pm for a kids haircut ($35) and/or portrait session ($200). The portrait session is a FUN 10 min shoot and includes 5 meaningful images (with option to purchase more). There will be fun treats and giveaways too! ALL PROCEEDS go back to the Maple Grove PTA! To book a spot call 720-485-3056. Check out the flyer HERE.
